This year two of the recipients of the Canadian-Estonian Award of Merit are Heli Tenno, for her contribution as a choir conductor, as soloist, as piano accompanist to many different goups, and Alla Kadysh, a Russian journalist who courageously promotes the causes of human rights, democracy and resistance to Vladimir Putin's espousal of authoritarianism and aggression internationally.
