| Content Description | Recently in Estonia, the ashes of Lt. Col. Ülo Tamre of Toronto were sent to their final resting place. A well-known WWII veteran, wounded three times defending his homeland from Soviet forces, Lt.Col. Tamre had also server as the president of the World League of Estonian Freedom Fighters, and the Federation of Estonian Veterans in Canada. With Estonia re-gaining its independence in 1991, Lt.Col. Tamre volunteered to help rebuild Estonia's fledgling defence forces and was appointed to be the Inspector General of the Estonian Defence League. On the left is another Torontonian, former Chief Chaplain of the Estonian Defence Forces, Rev. Col. Tõnis Nõmmik. |
