Content DescriptionOne hundred years ago the crucial battles with Red Army forces in Estonia's War of Independence will be commemorated on their individual 100th anniversary. On January 9, the battle at Tapa was re-enacted with 200 "soldiers" mock fighting in different units including artillery, armoured train, infantry etc. The series of enactments has been organized within the "Road to freedom" anniversary program. Estonians are always mindful that it took a war with casualties to fulfill the promises outlined in the Declaration of Independence proclaimed a year earlier on February 24, 1918. Historian Toomas Kiho, chairman of Estonia's "Memory Institute," initiator of the events is interviews by Estonian TV.
