| Content Description | Enn Kuuskne and Alver Rõika place lighted candles into a formation commemorating victims of the Soviet mass deportations of March 25, 1949 in which over 20,000 Estonians, including small children, women and the elderly, were deported, to distant isolated places in Siberia. Men were sentenced to hard labour camps. The ceremony was held at Toronto’s Estonian House on the exact date of the deportations 70 years ago. Toronto Estonian Supplementary School students provided most of the content of the ceremony. |
