Sisuline kirjeldusJaan Poska has a special place in the history of Estonina independence. On February 2, 1920 Soviet Russia and the young Republic of Estonia signed The Peace Treaty of Tartu, which amongst other important promises states that Soviet Russia will in perpetuity honour the sovereignty of Estonia. Poska headed the delegation negotiating the treaty with Moscow. After signing the agreement Poska said: “This is the most important day for Estonia in its 700 year long history. For the first time Estonia can now decide on its future status.” On the occasion of Poska's 150th anniversary, a conference in his honour was organized in Estonia.
