| Sisuline kirjeldus | On November 23rd, 2017, the European Union Film Festival (EUFF) finished its run of 28 European films at the Royal Theatre with the Estonian comedy-drama "Sangarid" (direct translation "heroes") but titled "Dissidents" in English. This fast-paced comedy-drama directed by Jaan Klimi played to a packed theatre and a widely diverse audience of European film lovers. And in keeping with the comedic theme of the evening, the film was introduced to the audience with some humorous comments by the Hon. Consul General of Estonia, Laas Leivat. This year's EUFF festival was co-hosted by the Maltese and Estonian consulates in Toronto, which reflect the 2017 shared presidency of the European Union by Malta (first half of 2017) and Estonia (second half of 2017). Amongst the overflow audience enjoying the film were plenty of Estonians including from the left: Christina Prozes, Hans Westerblom, Tiina Soomet, Robert Hiis, Kaisa Kasekamp, Andres Kasekamp, and Siina Kasekamp. |
