The correct name of our institution is National Archives of Estonia. When citing our arcival records, pleaserefer to National Arcives of Estonia in all cases. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">In connection with opening of Noora, our new main building, and the extensive move of collections, the former prefixes for the separate archives (EAA, ERA, ERAF, LAMA; SAMA etc) are no longer indicative of the physical location of the items, nor do they convey other significant information. This is only a part of the collection code and it is coupled with the collection number (e.g. EAA.854, ERA.31, ERAF.1). For example, as of 2017, a collection with the ERAF code is located in Tartu, while the ERA-coded items can be found in Tallinn and Tartu, and so on. Information on the locations of each collection can be found in <\/span><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><span lang=\"zxx\"><u><a class=\"western\" href=\"http:\/\/ais.ra.ee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">AIS<\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">, the archive information system. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-GB\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Citing archive sources: <\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-GB\">Write the reference code in the form found in AIS, using a period (full stop) to separate the collection, series and record numbers. e.g. EAA.5100.1.378<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-GB\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>In research works: <\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-GB\">Add the National Archives code in front of the archive citation: e.g. RA, EAA.5100.1.378<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-GB\">In the list of sources used, refer to the National Archive as the institution and thereafter provide the list of collections. For example:<\/p>\n<p>EAA.5100 P\u00e4rnu suurgild (P\u00e4rnu Great Guild)<\/p>\n<p>ERA.31 Riigikantselei (Government Office)<\/p>\n<p>LAMA.532 Haapsalu Rajooni Ameti\u00fchingute N\u00f5ukogu (Haapsalu Raion Trade Union Council)<\/p>\n<p>RA, EFA.203.1718\u00a0 \u2013 movies<\/p>\n<p>RA, EFA.203.0-256788\u00a0\u2013 photos<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-GB\">Do not attempt to group collections according to their location or interpret the collection code prefixes such as EAA and ERAF.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-GB\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Online citation of digitized sources (in e-mail, forums, blogs etc.):<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Do not copy the link from the browser\u2019s address bar. Instead use the options found in <\/span><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><span lang=\"zxx\"><u><a class=\"western\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ra.ee\/vau\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">VAU<\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"> bookmark in the self-service environment.
