Paper documents from Manee\u017ei Street, audiovisual heritage from Ristiku Street and some of the Rakvere repository collections were moved together to one new Tallinn center, which we call the Endla building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The temporary reading room and reception desk in the Endla building are open from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, entrance at Endla 3. The nearest public transport stop is T\u00f5nism\u00e4e. There is no customer parking, we are located in the paid parking zone of  Kesklinn (City Center).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The temporary reading room of the National Archives will remain open until the opening of the entire National Library building in May 2027. Then the research hall will move to its rightful location on the fourth floor of the main building, where all conditions have been created for comfortable access to archival materials.<br>We will also open the archive cinema Leida, dedicated to prominent figure of Estonian cinema, director Leida Laius, in May 2027, along with the entire building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Endla in numbers<br>The National Archives has at its disposal the buildings adjacent to Endla Street and the classroom already in use in the main building of the National Library, to which will be added a cinema hall and a stationary reading hall after the building is opened to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Endla building has:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5 paper repositories (2934 m\u00b2), with 18,900 shelf meters<br>17 film archive repositories (approx. 1287 m\u00b2), with 11,400 shelf meters, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3 cold repositories for films, photo negatives and color paper photos<br>4 cold repositories for black-and-white paper photos, glass negatives, photo albums, video cassettes<br>4 cold repositories for magnetic media (magnetic sounds from films, audio cassettes, tapes), audio discs<br>6 repositories for objects (film equipment, including projectors, cameras; props, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The reconstruction project for the National Library building was prepared by the architecture firm Sirkel &amp; Mall, the interior designed by Ville Lausm\u00e4e, and the construction works were done by Ehitus5ECO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"551\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ra.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Endla_vaike.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24007\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ra.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Endla_vaike.webp 800w, https:\/\/www.ra.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Endla_vaike-300x207.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.ra.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Endla_vaike-768x529.webp 768w, https:\/\/www.ra.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Endla_vaike-600x413.webp 600w\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2025, the National Archives moved its departments in Tallinn to the wing of the of the Estonian National Library building bordering the Endla Street.
