{"id":21152,"date":"2024-04-22T15:28:17","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T13:28:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ra.ee\/?p=21152"},"modified":"2024-04-22T15:38:27","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T13:38:27","slug":"the-common-archival-heritage-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ra.ee\/en\/the-common-archival-heritage-project\/","title":{"rendered":"The Common Archival Heritage project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Common Archival Heritage project aims to&nbsp;develop professional, scientific and cultural relations and comprehensive cooperation between archival institutions in&nbsp;Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It results from a&nbsp;sense of obligation to&nbsp;protect and preserve for future generations the archival heritage, which is an integral part of the common, pan-European cultural heritage. It also refers the idea promoted by&nbsp;UNESCO regarding a&nbsp;common documentary heritage, dispersed among various countries as&nbsp;a&nbsp;result of historical events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/archiwa.gov.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/porozumienie-lubelskie-1-829x345.jpg\" alt=\"5 os\u00f3b stoi z teczkami, w kt\u00f3rych jest podpisane porozumienie. \"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Archival institutions participating in&nbsp;the project will carry out research works in&nbsp;their national resources, in&nbsp;aim to&nbsp;identify and determine the size, value and state of preservation of archival materials constituting the common documentary heritage of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (including the documentary heritage of the Polish Crown, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and province of Livonia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As&nbsp;part of the project, archivists and researchers will have free access to&nbsp;archival aids and archival documents of the institutions participating in&nbsp;the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Common Archival Heritage also means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>exchange of knowledge, literature and information on&nbsp;how to&nbsp;act in&nbsp;emergency situations,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>exchange of knowledge and experience in&nbsp;the field of infrastructure and archival construction,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>mutual assistance in&nbsp;preparing of professional archival staff (specialists exchanges, training, internships for archival conservators),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>preparing joint speeches and appeals to&nbsp;international archival organizations on&nbsp;matters concerning the protection of archival resources,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>popularizing knowledge about the common archival heritage (joint publications, exhibitions, seminars, conferences),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supplementing national archival resources by: free independent copying, exchange or&nbsp;purchase of digital copies of selected archival materials from the resources of the countries participating in&nbsp;the project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The cooperation agreement was signed by\u00a0representatives of the boards of state archives of Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia on\u00a0April 18, 2024 at\u00a0the Lublin Castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More information can be found on the<a href=\"https:\/\/archiwa.gov.pl\/en\/discover\/projects\/international-programs\/common-archival-heritage\/\"> webpage of the Polish State Archives.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Common Archival Heritage project aims to&nbsp;develop professional, scientific and cultural relations and comprehensive cooperation between archival institutions in&nbsp;Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
