National Archives at the ICA Congress 2023 in Abu Dhabi
From 9 to 13 October, the International Council on Archives holds its Congress in Abu Dhabi. A detailed professional programme contains hundreds of presentations including two from the National Archives.
Head of digital archives, Lauri Leht, will share experiences and important lessons learnt from a very successful reorganisation of the traditional archives customer service into a fully computer-based system in the National Archives of Estonia that has enormously raised the quality and transparency of archives services for customers and has increased greatly the efficiency and motivation of archives staff.
Archival educators Edith Eskor and Liisi Pabstel will show some new approaches how to introduce archives’ massive collections to people, and how the archives can even give people a solution to their anxiety and a sense of purpose. Therefore, archives worldwide must make an effort and find new ways to bring people in.
Next to the presentations and workshops, there are many exhibitions opened during the congress.
