The 36th ICARUS Convention will take place in Tallinn 27–29 May 2026

The National Archives of Estonia in Tallinn has a great pleasure to host the 36th ICARUS Convention from 27–29 May 2026.

Under the theme “Highlighting Heritage, Empowering Knowledge – From Archivists to Everyone” the Convention aims to explore the power of archival heritage in an era of rapid data transformation. Through initiatives and case studies, we shall discuss AI-driven tools, user-friendly technologies, inclusive practices, crowdsourcing, and innovative approaches to improve access to archives.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Laura Millar, an internationally renowned consultant in records and archives management and author of the award-winning Archives: Principles and Practices and A Matter of Facts: The Value of Evidence in the Information Age.

Call for Papers:

We invite archivists, researchers, scholars, educators, and students to submit proposals on AI applications, digital transitions, inclusive access, crowdsourcing, multimedia engagement, and safeguarding trustworthy data. More details and the registration form can be found on ICARUS website.

  • Submission deadline: 1 April 2026
  • Travel grant applications (reserved for ICARUS members): 1 April 2026
  • Registration open until: 30 April 2026

Please be aware that, since the number of seats at the Convention is limited, organizers may ask you to follow the event online once registration is closed. Join us in Tallinn to collaborate with colleagues from across the archival community and engage in shaping the future of archival heritage, knowledge, and access in the digital age.

Looking forward to meeting you in Tallinn!
